1. INTRODUCTION

Nursing Department of University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University was established in 1999 with a team of highly qualified staff.

Due to the increasing demand for health care for people, especially high-quality nursing care, qualified nursing training plays a very important role to meet medical facilities in provinces of central vietnam, central highlands and the whole country. In 11/2004 the Nursing Department was developed into a Faculty of Nursing under the decision of Hue University with 4 department and 1 unit pre-clinical skills training. In 2020, Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy restructured and 4 departments of the Faculty were merged into 2 departments.

The mission of Faculty of Nursing is to contribute the development of Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy and the Vietnamese nursing industry stronger through providing high quality nursing human resources, capable of international integration.

2. ORGANIZATION AND STRUCTURES

The Faculty of Nursing currently only has two department:  Fundamental Nursing- Community Nursing Department and General Nursing- Specialized Nursing Department and 23 full-time staff. Lecturers of the Faculty have been trained in professional skills, graduate skills and short-term training courses in advanced countries around the world.

Graduate training program

Faculty of Nursing - University of Medicine and Pharmacy, University of Hue has been specially trained graduate including:

  • Specialist level I in Nursing (full time): started training in 2010, up to now, 8 courses and a total of students graduated 175 students.
  • Master of nursing science associated with KhonKaen University, Thailand: started training in 2017
  • Master of science in nursing: started trainging in 2019

International program and other types of training

Faculty of Nursing has exchange programs with many countries as Finland, Sweden, South Korea, Nepal, Thailand… These programs support our staff and students to do practice at their Universities/Institutions from 2 weeks up to 3 months.

  • Community nursing practice program in surrounding Hue city, Thua Thien Hue province for 2 weeks.
  • Nursing practice program at Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy for 2-3 months.
  • Short-term training program with certification of courses: Nursing Management, Basic Life Support, Continuing Medical Education.

4. RESEARCH AND PUBLICATION

Staff of Nursing Faculty have been carrying out many research projects at university and ministry level, scientific research projects in cooperation with prestigious international nursing universities and organizations, and many innovative initiatives on medical, nursing and teaching. Every year, many scientific topics of Nursing staff are reported at domestic and international conferences as well as published in prestigious journal.

5. INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION

The Faculty of Nursing has long-term partnership with many Nursing Universities and organizations around the world such as the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Finland, Sweden, Netherlands, South Korea, Japan, China, Nepal, Thailand ...

Each year, the Faculty receives over 100 international experts and students who come to work, give lecture and learn through human resource exchange programs. Also through international cooperation activities, every year, 20-30 turns of faculty and students of the Faculty have the opportunity to work, teach and study abroad; more than 100 scholarships are awarded annually to Nursing students and Medical students.

The Faculty has been developing many internship programs to attract international students such as clinical nursing practice programs in clinical departments of Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital, short-term re-training program; Community nursing practice programs at community practice sites in surrounding Hue city. In addition, the Faculty also cooperates with foreign partners to organize social activities, improving the quality of life and health for the local community.
