1. INTRODUCTION
In 1975, the Department of Traditional Medicine was established. On February 01, 2010, Hue University decided to establish Faculty of Traditional Medicine on the basis of an upgrade from the previous Department.
2. ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE AND PERSONNEL
The personnel division consist of 15 university lecturers, 01 secretary, 12 part-time lecturers from Department of Traditional Medicine of Hue Central Hospital and Thua Thien Hue Traditional Medicine Hospital.
3. EDUCATION AND TRAINING
- Undergraduate training program:
- Traditional Medicine doctor program (6 years)
- General Medicine doctor program (for 5th year students)
- Preventative Medicine doctor program (for 4th year students)
- Dentistry doctor program (4th year students)
- Bachelor of Nursing program (for 4th year students)
- Medical Technology program (for 4th year students)
- Graduate training program:
- Traditional Medicine doctor specialist level 1, 2 program (2 years)
- Master degree of Traditional Medicine program (2 years)
- Residency track of Traditional Medicine program (2 years)
- Regularly organize short-term courses for foreign students to come to study Vietnamese Traditional Medicine.
4. RESEARCH AND PUBLICATION
- Research focus:
- Basic research
- Clinical traditional medicine combined with other specialties research
- Community health research
- Acupuncture, Non - drugs methods and Nourishing research
- Folk Herbal medicine
The faculty has conducted 22 university-level, 5 ministerial-level, 1 province-level, 1 state-level researches. Most of them have been reviewed and published in various prestigious Medical Journals. In addition, had 3 articles published in International Journals (SCI). Every year, the young lecturers participate in The Youth’s Science and Technology Conference of Vietnam’s Pharmacy and Medicine Universities and Colleges, achieving positive results.
5. INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION
- Participated in scientific conferences in Austria, China, Japan, Thailand…
- Coordinated with Faculties of Traditional Medicine of other universities and hospitals, organized scientific conferences – continually train majors such as acupuncture, aricular acupunture, moxibustion, Thai massage...
- From 2013, coordinated with Faculty of Traditional Medicine in Guangxi Medical University - China. International exchange is carried out every year, in which students are sent to Guangxi Medical University for the Summer internship class in traditional medicine.
- In 2015, coordinated with Kyung Hee University – Korea in project on smoking cessation and treatment PTSD (Post-traumatic stress disorder) by aricular acupunture.
- In 2016, coordinated with Ubon Ratchathani Rajabhat University – Thailand. Organize seminars- conference between the two countries and also had a CME (continuing medical education) about Thai Massage in Viet Nam.
- In 2017, organized The first International Conference on Traditional medicine and Pharmacy.
- Expand international cooperation with Guangxi International Zhuang Medicine Hospital, Guangxi University of Chinese Medicine (China), Airlangga University (Indonesia), Chang Gung University (Taiwan), Mahasarakham University (Thailand).
