1. Introduction
The Department of Biochemistry was established along with the foundation of Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy in 1957. The first Dean was Le Ba Nhan, followed by Pharmacist Vo Dang Dai, Prof. Pham Khac Lam, Le Ngoc Kinh PhD., Associate Professor Hoang Thi Thu Huong, Nguyen Thi Dieu Thanh MSc, and now is Phu Thi Hoa, PhD.
2. Organizational Structure and Personnel
The Department consists of 15 staff, including 9 lecturers, including 2 technicians, 5 technical bachelors and another staff.
3. Training and Medical services
Undergraduate programs: 6-year and 4-year curriculum for General Practitioners, 6-year and 4-year curriculum for Traditional Doctors, Preventive Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing...
Postgraduate programs: Medical biochemistry oriented course, Specialists level 1 and 2.
Medical services: Most staff in the department serve in medical examination and treatment at the Central Laboratory Unit of Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy.
4. Research and Application of Science-Technology
Before 1994, we conducted more than 50 scientific research topics.
Sine 1995, there have been 4 projects at ministerial level, two projects at the state level, one at provincial level and many at the ministry level. The main research themes are clinical biochemistry of hepatitis, cirrhosis, liver cancer, nutrition, endocrine ... cell biology, molecular biology.
5. International Coorperation
+ 3 PhDs and 4 Masters are training in affiliated Program with Sassari University, Italy.
