1. INTRODUCTION

The Department of Ophthalmology was established along with the foundation of Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy in 1957. The first Head was Le Ba Van, MD, followed by Associate Professor Hoang Ngoc Chuong, Associate Professor Phan Van Nam, Tran Nguyen Tra My, MD.

2. ORGANIZATION AND STRUCTURE

The Department of Ophthalmology has 8 cadres: 1 Associate Professor, 1 PhD, MD, 2 Specialists 2, 1 Master of Science, 3 MDs (one currently doing doctoral dissertation, one doing master in Korean):

3. EDUCATION AND TRAINING

Undergraduate programs: 6-year and 4-year curriculum for General Doctors, Traditional Doctors, Preventive Medicine, Dentist, Nurse...

Postgraduate programs: Residents, Specialists level 1 and 2.

Medical services: All staff in the department serve in medical examination and treatment at the Department of Ophthalmology of Hue University Hospital, Hue Central Hospital and Hue Eye Hospital.

There had been 6 projects at ministerial level, one at provincial level and many at university-level.
