1. INTRODUCTION:

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology has a continuous development process in terms of quality, tasks and staff numbers. Before 1975 and five years later, the Department of Obstetrics only trained undergraduates majoring in medicine. After that, the department witnessed the increase in the number of lecturers, compiled a complete curriculum and was responsible for university training in seven majors in the field of health science, postgraduate training including Specialist Level I, Specialist Level II, graduate, Resident Physician and doctoral students specializing in obstetrics and gynecology for Central Region - Central Highlands and nationwide.

2. ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE AND PERSONNEL:

The department currently has 25 staff (1 Professor, 3 Assoc. Professor, 3 PhD, 13 MSc, 4 MD, 1 Bachelor)

3. TRAINING AND TREATMENT:

3.1. Training:

Completing the training program, ensuring proper training plan of the university, organizing examinations and ensuring correct regulations

- Undergraduate training:

Teaching full-time general practitioners (6-year program): 4^th year (symptoms and pathology), 5^th year and 6^th year (treatment); 4-year program: 4^th year (symptoms, pathology, treatment).

Serving as scientific advisors for 13 graduate theses for full-time general practitioners, all of them have successfully defended their theses.

Developing and ameliorating textbooks, participating in teaching certain certificates of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Productive Health for full-time and part-time students

Building up a block of multiple choice questions for end-term test: 6000 questions.

Assessing clinical skills by OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examination), applied for 4^th and 6^th year students.

- Postgraduate training:

The department actively drafted the curriculum, participated in and completed the training program, organized examination for obtaining certificates, the graduation examination and thesis defense. Moreover, some on-site and distance courses were already held: Specialist Level I Obstetrics & Gynecology, Specialist Level I Surgery (assistant certificate of Obstetrics & Gynecology), Specialist Level I Family Medicine (certificate of Obstetrics & Gynecology), Master of Obstetrics & Gynecology, Master of Surgery (assistant certificate of Obstetrics & Gynecology), Specialist Level II, Resident Physician.

Textbooks were also compiled and updated for undergraduates and postgraduates.

3.2. Treatment: 

The teaching staff of the department has been well involved in the treatment and service of patients at Hue Central Hospital and Hue University Hospital. By taking part in the treatment and clinical teaching for various students, the department has contributed positively to the development of Hue University Hospital.

4. RESEARCH AND APPLICATION OF SCIENCE-TECHNOLOGY

5. INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION

- Many lecturers went abroad to join exchange short-term courses specialized in: obstetrics and gynecology, laparoscopic surgery, infertility treatment.
- 01 lecturers has returned after having completed his/her study in Korea.
- The leader board and all staff of the department have been actively seeking international partners such as the American Cancer Society, the French Gynecology and Obstetrics Association, and so on to establish and develop partnerships, Training for Postgraduate students as well as to ameliorate resources for training, scientific research and medical examination for the central region and highlands
